Woodlog Covert, Paris, Kentucky
We felt so fortunate to stay at Woodlog Covert, a working farm in Paris, Kentucky. It was a Harvest Host location, possibly the best one we've stayed at to date. So picturesque.
The roads getting there were very narrow. They were two lanes, but barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass by. Sometimes we had to pull over to let the other car go by before we could proceed. But the locals seemed used to it.
They gave us a camp spot in the shade that had an electrical hookup for $20. We were happy to have air conditioning without having to use our generator. But we ended up keeping it turned off as much as possible so we could hear the farm sounds: owls, crickets, sheep, cows, donkeys...
It was so peaceful there. We rode our bikes to another farm that they owned, about 4 miles away down these amazing county backroads, lovely and peaceful.
The sunset was stunning and as the sun was going down, the fireflies came out. We had never seen them before in person. So cool! We just sat out in our camping chairs and watched them for a couple of hours.
