The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey, Cañon City, Colorado

We arrived at the winery in the mid-afternoon sun, 95 degrees plus!  Grasshoppers galore!

It took a while to get level, but once we did, we walked over to the winery, found a spot in the shade and ordered a wine sampler and a charcuterie tray of prosciuto, mozzarella cheese, green olives and crackers.

The wine was tasty, especially the merlot and the syrah.

Our good friend Randy and his brother Jerry live in Canon City now.  We asked them if they wanted to meet up and while Randy was back in the Northwest, Jerry was available.

He and his wife, Mary, and son, Brandon, picked us up at the winery and treated us to a tour of their amazing town and a delicious steak dinner.

After dinner, they took us up to Skyline Drive at the top of a ridge where we saw dinosaur footprints and experienced an amazing and somewhat scary drive.  The road was narrow and you could see hundreds of feet below on both sides of the vehicle at the same time!

We are grateful to Jerry and his family for the wonderful evening and some memories that we will never forget.
