Sun Lakes, WA
We arrived in Sun Lakes on Tuesday, the day after Labor Day. The campground was pretty empty. We felt like we had the place to ourselves. And it was hot, hot, hot, mid-90's every day.
We were invited by Ed and Betty Lou. Betty‘s brother Wayne and his wife Betty (yes, two Betty's!) joined us also.
While we were there we:
- Played the nine hole golf course twice, Karen drove the cart the first time and Steve, Ed, Wayne and Betty joined the golf tournament the second time.
- Floated on Sun Lakes with the inner tubes that we borrowed from Tom, Steve’s brother.
- Joined the family reunion group, for a seafood boil one night, and an Asian dinner another night. When the awards were passed out for the winners of the golf tournament, the team Steve was on came in fifth, out of five teams. They had a score of +6, not great for a best ball tournament. But they had fun.
- Played two card games, one called Golf and another called Swipe, played withnEd and Betty Lou, and Wayne and Betty.
- Karen and Steve had some great burgers and onion rings, at a burger place in Ephrata on the way home.
Karen, who had a broken heel, had graduated from her knee roller, to a walker. She had been six weeks in a non-weight bearing boot, just before this trip.
We had forgotten how beautiful Sun Lakes is. Thank you Ed and Betty for a wonderful time!
