Quartzsite, AZ
We left Palm Springs early so we could arrive in Quartzsite well ahead of the predicted wind storm. We pulled into the Holiday Palms RV Resort at 1pm and quickly got set up. We were comfortably nestled between two large RV's, a perfect place to ride out the wind storm.
We had just enough time to take a quick bike tour of this quirky town before the winds got too strong.
The storm rocked our trailer, but Cooper was up to the task and we didn't sustain any damage. The 55 mph winds lasted 24 hours, so we spent a lot of time indoors the first day and a half.
Once the winds subsided, we took the opportunity to explore the town on bike. So many unusual places to check out, from the Quartzsite history museum, to Camel Rides and historic monuments like Hi Jolly.
Quartzsite is set up for short term RVrs and full timers alike. There is so much BLM land here! You can camp for free, two weeks at a time. We stayed three nights total and we hope to be back at some point, just not peak summer!
