Palm Springs KOA

It was suppose to be a shorter drive, but one look at the weather report changed all that.

We had Harvest Host reservations at Slash X Ranch Cafe in Barstow, CA for Monday night and Joshua Tree for two days beginning Tuesday.  I looked at the weather report and to our surprise, it had changed.  They were now predicting 80 mph winds for Barstow and 70 mph winds for Joshua Tree, the following day.

Fortunately, trailer life is flexible!  We canceled both reservations and decided to head for Palm Springs for the night, which did not have a high wind warning at the time.

We also changed our reservations at Quartzsite, AZ for three days instead of one.  We intend to ride out the storm there as winds were expected to be only 55 mph.

Our decision to avoid the storm was confirmed by so many trailers and RVs leaving the Mohave Desert, hundreds!

So our drive of 4.5 hours became an 9 hour drive and we pulled into Palm Springs at sunset.

But avoiding the storm center will be worth it!
