Ogallala, NE
We were up early and left for Ogallala, Nebraska, in the southwest corner of the state, where we had reservations at a KOA camp.
On the way we stopped at Great Platte River Road Archway, a museum that chronicles how the west was settled, from the early 1800s to the early 1900s, when wagon trains were replaced by trains and cars.
The museum sits atop the I-80 freeway, which generally follows the same path west that the early settlers took.
It had a self-guided tour. They handed us a device that you wear around your neck. When you point it at an exhibit, it told you the story behind what you were looking at. Pretty interesting.
We got snowed on when we arrived at Ogallala. Surprise! It cleared out after dark and got very cold, down to 25º, a far cry from the 80s we enjoyed in Missouri.
This KOA had the best Wi-Fi of any campground to date. It was so fast you could stream internet TV, without any buffering whatsoever. In fact, we had multiple devices going at a time and it still worked great.
It was right next to the freeway, but since we had to run the heater all night, we didn't hear it above the fan noise.
All-in-all, an interesting day, and a decent place to stay for the night.
