Ocean City State Park, Ocean Shores

Sam and Theresa invited us to join them at Ocean Shores.  They stayed at the Quinalt Casino while we stayed at the Ocean City Campground, within walking distance.  In fact, we walked down the beach with Sam and Theresa and with the help of GPS, found the trail that led to our campsite.

In addition to walks on the beach, we enjoyed the fantastic weather, beautiful sunsets, great food and game nights that included Mexican Train Dominoes with Shark Tank running in the background.  We also had a chance to reminisce about the old days at the Seattle Times, which is where I met Sam.

The weather was great, 67 degrees or so, for the four days we were there.  You can't ask for anything better at the beach in September.

Our campsite was quiet and beautiful with lush green vegetation and plenty of deer and chipmunks.

One morning we awoke to the sound of someone chopping wood, or so we thought, right outside our trailer.  Karen and I took turns looking out the window and couldn't see anything.  Then we discovered that a chipmunk was dropping pine cones from way up high, onto our truck.  It was surprisingly loud.  I moved the truck and a while later, we saw the chipmunk running out, grabbing a pine cone and taking off with it.  He did this until the pine cones were almost all gone, and there were 20 - 30 of them!

We also saw a family of dear walk by, very close to our trailer.

Thank you Sam and Theresa for the wonderful time.
