Newport, OR
On the way to South Beach State Park in Newport, OR, we made some fun stops on the way. We took in the roadside views on HWY 101, visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory and got some delicious fish and chips at a little hole in the wall restaurant across the street from the factory.
We arrived at the campground after 5pm, and quickly got set up. This campground was fantastic!
On day two, Karen and I got the bikes out. Her foot and knee were feeling good enough to go for a ride. The bike path was paved and wide. It featured tree-covered canopies and spectacular views of the ocean. You could hear the sea lions barking at several points along the way. We rode all the way to the other side of the bridge near the site of the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival.
We definitely would like to stay here again, maybe in February during the Seafood and Wine festival.
