Kellog, ID
We got on the road at 6:30am and the drive was pretty great all the way to Kellog. Mostly sunny and blue skies with poofy white clouds. We got some rain once we hit Idaho, but nothing major.
We nursed our gas tank all the way to Post Falls so we could fill up on cheaper gas. Our dash said we had 30 miles left in the tank when we pulled into a Loves.
It was $3.95/gallon in Idaho, compared with $4.79 at Costco in Lynnwood the day before we left.
We arrived in Kellog at the Shoshone Golf Course around 1:30pm. It's a Harvest Host location. We quickly got set up and inquired about hitting some balls at the driving range. They said they were out of range balls. I guess the high school kid they hired didn't show up, so they were all out in the field. They said if I wanted to pick up a bucket worth, I could hit them for free. But then I decided it would just be more fun to play 9 holes. Karen walked the course with me and we had fun. We had just enough time to get 9 holes in before it started raining again.
All the holes had names. One long par 5 was named Terrible Edith. It was an elevated tee that required a fairly straight shot between the trees. Super fun hole to play!
They said that they get all kinds of animals there: deer, elk, moose, ground squirrels, rabbits.
The golf course was beautiful! It made for a fun stay.
