Heart & Soul Alpaca Farm
We left 9 mile at 6am in the morning fog, headed to Butte, Montana. The fog lifted just after we crossed into Idaho and we enjoyed a peaceful drive, interrupted only by a surprise snow shower as we got close to our destination.
We enjoyed driving alongside a train for a period of time and Karen took a cool video.
We arrived at the Alpaca Farm at 3:30pm and had our choice of spots to park. The view was spectacular, maybe the most picturesque Harvest Host location we've visited.
We met Karen and her husband Russell who graciously gave us a tour of their property.
Our first sight was a 5 hour old baby Alpaca, born at 11am that day. It hadn't nursed yet and still had wobbly legs.
In the store, Karen found a wonderful stocking cap made from Alpaca yarn, soft and warm.
We met two other couples who were also Harvest Host members, one couple from Sacramento and the other from Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
It was 45 degrees, but when the wind died down, it was comfortable to sit outside for a while, take in the breathtaking views and watch the sunset.
We dined in our trailer and made it an early night. Our propane heater kept us toasty warm. We slept in until we felt rested, had a leisurely breakfast and got on the road at 9am.
