Ellen & Bernie’s, March 2023

We made the short 16 mile drive from west Phoenix to Mesa, AZ and spent the next 9 days with Ellen and Bernie.

During the time we were there, the weather warmed up to the 70s and 80s.  It felt so good!

Here are some of the fun things we did with Ellen and Bernie while we were there:

• Ate Burritos Locos and Ice Cream cones at Topo in Gilbert.  It's the Fritos inside the burritos that make them loco.  The cones were dipped in a prickly pear topping.  Mmmmmm!
• Went on two great bike rides, one to Kwanis Park and another to Gilbert.
• Had drinks and dinner with Courtney, Leonard, Kayden, Tank and Dana at the O.H.S.O. brewery in Gilbert.
• Went to an underground speak easy in Gilbert called the White Rabbit. You had to know the secret password in order to enter through the hidden door.  The old fashions were delicious as were there other drinks like the "1837" and "Chasing Rabbits".
• Hung out in Ellen and Bernie's backyard, watched the sun go down, played cribbage and enjoyed each other's company.
• Hit golf balls with Leonard (and Kayden) at Dobson Ranch.
• Watched Kayden's swim lesson and enjoyed a pizza dinner in Courtney and Leonard's backyard.
• Enjoyed a couple of good movie nights, Fisherman's Friends 1 & 2, So I Married an Ax Murderer with Mike Myers.
• Visited Karen's parents' new place in Towerpoint, a very nice trailer home for $45K.  The dues are $9K per year, but they are a 5 Star park and feature entertainment like Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and the 5th Dimension! It's really an amazing place.
• Played free golf with Leonard, Galvin and Brian at Biltmore's Adobe course.  My second time there.  Beautiful course!  It was a great pleasure to witness Galvin's two Eagles on way to scoring even par for the day!
• Hiked the Telegraph Pass Trail at South Mountain Park.
• Had a nice visit with Vickie and Bill who live down here full time now.
