Deception Pass – September 2021

We stayed at Deception Pass from Friday, September 10th to Sunday September 12th.  It was an hour and 1/2 drive. We arrived Friday afternoon about 2pm and it took about an hour to set up.

On Saturday morning we tested out our Coleman stove for the first time.  It worked great, cooked fast and hot, which is probably a good thing for outdoor food prep.

Ashley, Tim, Patrick & Kona came up to visit on Saturday.  We went for a walk through the park and enjoyed the visit.

Ellen, Bernie and their two pups also came up on Saturday.

We enjoyed great conversation and had a good time.  One highlight was when a chipmunk snuck into our tent and then couldn't figure out how to get out. (See video below.)

The weather was warm and beautiful when we arrived on Friday.  The forecast called for highs in the mid-60's for the weekend with only a 13% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday it started sprinking in the afternoon.  The sprinkles turned into a downpour at about 4am Sunday morning and didn't let up the rest of our stay.

We packed up in the pouring rain, and I mean pouring, and had to change clothes before we could drive home.

But, that's camping in the Pacific NW.  We came prepared!
