Day 4 – Tucumcari, NM
We woke up at 4am, left the distillery at 5am. It was dark, perfect for the neon on Route 66. We saw some nostalgic places before the sun came up. Kingman, AZ to Tucumcari, NM was the best drive so far, 75 degrees and no rain all day! Lot's of cactus. We felt like high plains drifters!
It was the longest drive of the trip, 648 miles.
We arrived at Blaze-in-Saddle RV park at 6:30pm. Steve spent the next hour making a cover for the air conditioner/heat pump, with the help of our RV neighbor Cary. He had the exact drill bit size that we needed.
The Blaze-in-Saddle RV park is owned by three brothers. They did an amazing job renovating the park. They had everything you would need for a pleasant stay, level campsites, wi-fi and super clean showers.
Karen prepared dinner, bacon & spinach quiche that she had made at home before we left.
The weather in Tucumcari was a very comfortable 75 degrees, but with snow in the forecast! We won't be spending an extra day!
