Casper, Wyoming

Day three of our journey was a "no alarm" day.  We woke up to sunshine that quickly warmed the temps from the low 40's to mid-50's by 9am.

We drove over beautiful rolling hills in eastern Montana and northern Wyoming.  It was the first time Karen and I had been to Wyoming.  The elevation in Casper is about 5,000 feet.

We arrived at the Gruner Brothers Brewery, a Harvest Host, located in the industrial district of Casper, Wyoming. We were shown by the manager where to park, which was next to three old Airstreams from Canada headed to a convention.  They were being towed by what appeared to be underpowered vehicles, but who are we to judge?

We had some beers and delicious appetizers of fried pickles and mini-pretzels with cheese sauce, which ended up being our dinner.  We played darts and met the Gruner brothers, thanking them for their hospitality.

On the way back to our trailer, we struck up a conversation with a very nice couple from Tenessee.  They had an enormous rig that was also their home.

Then, before we even got inside our trailer, we met another nice couple from San Jose (do you know the way?).  Dave was a recently retired police officer.   He and his wife Bridget invited us to join their propane powered campfire and we enjoyed good conversation for a couple hours until it started sprinkling.

The sprinkling quickly became a thunder storm that lasted several hours.  We hunkered down and enjoyed the show.

Overall, a great place to stop for the night.
