Apache Junction, AZ II

We arrived back at Superstition Sunrise RV Park in Apache Junction on Monday, October 21st.

Here are some of the amazing experiences we had while we were in AZ:

  • Went on several bike rides including ones starting from the OHSO Brewery, Harmony Park, Scottsdale Silverado Golf Course and Ellen and Bernie's house, a couple with our new friends Stewart and Lisa from Kitsap County near Manchester WA, and Scott and Karen from Alberta
  • Saw the last ELO concert ever in the U.S. on their Over and Out Tour, October 29th, 2024, rescheduled from October 21st when they had to postpone due to illness. Remembered when we used to see them in numerous small venues in Seattle in the 70's, before they made it big.
  • Went trick or treating with Courtney, Leonard and Cayden, Cayden's very first time
  • Met Covey for the first time
  • Golfed five times, twice with Ken and three times with RV neighbors Steve (Alberta) and Jerry (Iowa).  Leonard joined us once. It turns out that Steve and I celebrate the same birthdays. Had my lowest score ever on December 9th with Ken, 78, at Echo Mesa.
  • Watched a live band in Cave Creek
  • Toured Happy Trails RV Resort with Joni, thank you so much Joni for showing us around, we loved it!
  • Went to Ken's for two barbecues, one with Joni, Dan, Randy G, Ron & Lori and another with several of Ken's friends from the old KOMO days
  • Met Ellen and Bernie's friends Jeff and Julie and visited their unique furniture shop called Big Bronco in Cave Creek
  • Had an amazing lunch in Fountain Hills at Euro Pizza Cafe
  • Went to the Mesa Flea Market twice
  • Celebrated Thanksgiving at Courtney and Leonard's with Ellen and Bernie, Ray and Pat, Tom and Jen, Brenda (Tom's Mom), Christina and Anthony, and the kids
  • Attended the Leonid and Friends Concert at Celebrity Theatre with Vickie and Chris who flew down for the event.  The venue featured a stage that rotated.
  • Stayed up late and watched the presidential election until it was decided
  • Visited Randy and Ginny and had a wonderful conversation, excited about the prospect of Nuclear Fusion, that's a whole other story
  • Witnessed the Veteran's Day celebration at Tower Point with Ray, Pat and Ellen
  • Watched an Elton John cover band with Ellen and Bernie
  • Dined at Los Gringos Locos,  Dirtwater Springs, and Ninja Japanese Steakhouse (for my birthday)
  • Breakfast at Mickey D's with Scott and Karen (no not McDonald's, but a local establishment)
  • Went to Organ Stop Pizza and enjoyed the pipe organ music with Ray, Pat, Ellen, Bernie, Courtney, Leonard and their kids
  • Jan taught us how to play Pickleball, I'm hooked!
  • Stayed at Ellen and Bernies, dog-sitting, while they were in Mexico
  • Walked Lilo and Teddy at Dobson Ranch
  • Went to Dirk Bentley's Whiskey Row for a night out
  • Had lunch at the Porch in Gilbert at the mid-point of a bike ride, also the Drunk Monk with Maryanne.
  • Watched numerous Hallmark Christmas movies, including the Santa Clause, the Bishops Wife and Christmas at the Biltmore
