Anaheim, CA
We arrived in Anaheim on Friday, December 20th and quickly got set up at our Orangeland RV Resort campsite. The site was tight, but we made it work. And the location was excellent.
Ashley, Tim, Patrick and Emma were staying at the Best Western, about 15 minutes away and right across the street from Disneyland's main entrance.
We used the A.R.T. bus system to go to and from Disneyland in combination with Uber.
We had so much fun! On day two Uncle Mike joined us, Ashley's birth-father's brother. We had met him once before at Ashley's birth-sister Sarah's graduation party. He was a super nice guy and were happy to have this shared experience with him.
Disneyland was decorated for Christmas and it was spectacular to behold! It really made us feel like Christmas, even though we were in a warmer climate and still miles from home.
We rented a wheelchair for Karen the first day, as she was still recovering from a broken heal. But she walked without it the second and third days with good success, not as much pain or swelling. So, I think we've turned a corner!
Some of our favorite Disneyland rides were:
- Thunder Mountain
- The Matterhorn Bobsleds
- Mr Toads Wild ride
- Dumbo
- Princess Tiana ride (formerly Splash Mountain)
- Jungle Cruise
- Indiana Jones Adventure
- Adventureland Treehouse
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Peter Pan's Flight
- Autopia
- Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Some of our favorite California Adventure rides were:
- Radiator Springs Racers - Cars
- Webslingers, A Spiderman Adventure
- Guardians of the Galaxy (formerly the Tower of Terror)
- Soarin' Around the World
- Monsters Inc
- The Little Mermaid
We also:
- Witnessed a night-time parade,
- Enjoyed the new Star Wars area of Disneyland, with Chewy and the Storm Troopers walking around
- Watched Patrick and Emma dance
It was a wonderful experience that will live in our memories forever!
