Driving Down the Oregon & California Coast
We left Mapleton, OR around 8am, shrouded in fog. Driving along the Oregon coast, we were in and out of a dense foggy forest for a couple of hours before breaking free to glorious blue skies, sunshine and ocean views.
Along the road was Honeyman State Park, one of the first places we ever camped at the tender ages of 19 & 20. Honeyman State Park is noted for it's huge sand dunes.
It was fun to drive through all the little towns like North Bend and Bandon.
We stopped along the way to take in some beautiful ocean views as well as the Redwood Forest. I'm always amazed at the immense girth of these gorgeous trees. And coming around the corner to see the giant Paul Bunyon and his Ox Blue is always a treat.
Even the emergency road construction repairs along the way couldn't dampen our spirits. Some of the rock slides had really taken a toll on 101, in one case taking out an entire lane closest to the water. Glad we weren't there when it happened.
So glad we took 101 instead of I-5. It takes longer but the views are worth it.
Happy that the Baby Ruth blog is active again. We are happy that you are safely getting closer to the sun and warmer weather.
On another note, I remember the golf course in OR that I played a few years ago. It was Brandon Dunes Golf Course………
