Days 27 – 32, Ellen & Bernie’s

We spent days 27 - 32 at Ellen & Bernie's in Mesa, AZ.  What a great time we had!

We arrived on a Monday night, a day early.  Thank you Bernie!  With Ellen arriving on Wednesday night, we spent the first couple of days visiting with friends in the area.

On Tuesday I golfed with Rick, Ron, Marv and his son Bryson.  What a beautiful day for golf!  Temperatures were in the 80's, but windy.

Unfortunately, I took an errant 100+ mph golf ball to the shin while driving my cart on the 10th hole. Ouch!  That left a mark! Ron and Marv had ice and I kept it iced for the remainder of the round.  I iced it for the next several days and it's getting better.

Karen and Kris T. spent the afternoon together while we golfed.  After golf we spent the evening at Ron's, ate delicious pizza and drank beers.  Ron and Lori's home in Sun City Grand is so nice!

On Wednesday we had brunch with Rose and Les who live in Glendale.  Great to get caught up with them.

Les introduced us to the Kara & Nate Youtube travel channel last time we were down there.  We've become huge fans of their channel since then and followed their travels as they visited 100 countries in four years prior to COVID.  Now they travel the U.S. in their Sprinter van.  Their episodes helped us make some decisions regarding our own cross country travels.

Ellen arrived on Wednesday evening. Courtney and her fiance Leonard came over after Bernie picked her up from the airport.  Over the next five days, we had lots of fun experiences including:

  • Swimming and lounging by their pool
  • Walking through Dobson Ranch
  • Bike riding to Gilbert and drinking beers at the a sports bar named Porch
  • Helping Courtney and Leonard pack and move
  • Dinner in Scottsdale at Culinary Dropout
  • Brunch on the Patio at the Golf Course
  • Pool party and barbecue at Courtney and Leonard's new apartment

Arizona is on the short list of where we may live next, along with Idaho and Texas.
