On the way to Missouri, we stayed at the Junkyard on 66 Brewery, a Harvest Host location.
They had a large dirt parking lot out back and accepts up to 15 RV'rs at a time.
Henry, the owner, met us as we arrived. He was a veteran who turned this junkyard into a brewery, and it's still a functioning junkyard!
We met some nice folks there, most of them planning to attend the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque. Even though the festival had been on our radar for some time, we didn't realize we were 100 miles away and two days early, when we arrived at the brewery.
We investigated changing our plans and attending, but it just wasn't in the cards. Everything was booked up. The local KOA had spots remaining at $180 and $220/night, which was a little ridiculous.
So, we decided to skip the event for this year, but to seriously consider planning a trip for next year, when we can get reservations well in advance.
