Gearhart, OR

With heavy hearts, we embarked on our trip down the Oregon coast on Highway 101. Steve’s 93 year old dad was suffering from sepsis and was in the hospital. He had been non-responsive since Sunday evening.  After being encouraged by our relatives, we decided to say our goodbyes and leave on our trip anyway, knowing it would be the last time we would see him.

We caravanned with Karen’s sister Ellen and her husband Bernie. Our first stop was in Gearhart, Oregon, at Bud's RV park, where we spent two nights.

While we were there, we:

  • Walked on the beautiful sandy beach
  • Went to happy hour at McMenamins which overlooked a golf course
  • Visited Seaside, 7 minutes away, walked through some shops and had coffee and donuts at a little coffee shop called the Sleepy Monk

We hadn't been to Seaside in many years.  It had really grown, but at the same time, still seemed to keep it's same personality, with it's arcades, shops and beautiful sandy beach.  A fun stop.
