Melrose Vineyards, Roseburg, Oregon
We left in the dark at 6am in order to avoid Seattle traffic. It worked great and we even avoided rush hour traffic in Tacoma and Olympia. Nice!
While at a rest stop we discovered an oversight in our plan. The vineyard we were going to stay at could not accommodate anything larger than 30 feet. So we made a last-minute change and drove 60 miles further to stay at another very nice Oregon winery, Melrose Gardens in Roseburg, a Harvest Host location.
After getting set up, we walked around the grounds, played two games of cribbage, drank a glass or two from the bottle of wine we had purchased, and generally enjoyed the beautiful evening and the warm, 78 degree weather.
We had a good nights rest in this peaceful place that we had all to ourselves. Waking up to thick fog, we carefully made our way to I-5. The fog quickly cleared and we enjoyed some beautiful sunshine.
