Greycliff Mill, Montana
We woke up to sunny skies, ready for our next destination, a Harvest Host location called Greycliff Mill in Montana.
Our drive was long, 400 miles, 7.5 hours, through Idaho's and Montana's Rockies. But the weather and scenery were outstanding! Beautiful forests, green rolling hills and interesting rock formations.
We drove past a historical monument, a giant smoke stack in Anaconda, MT. It could be seen from miles away. It was completed in 1919 and is one of the tallest brick structures in the world at 585 feet, almost as tall as the Space Needle which stands at 605 feet. Who new?
We pulled into Greycliff Mill around 4pm and were astounded by its beauty. The photos tell the story. The elevation in Greycliff is about 4,500 feet.
They had a really cool coffee shop and bakery that also served sandwiches and delicious milk shakes.
Next to the main building they had a couple of craft buildings and a plant nursery. In one craft building, you could learn how to run a loom or create your own leather goods. In another building, kids could build their own wooden boats among other things.
In the evening, we were treated to a wonderful sunset and a surprise hail storm.
Even though Greycliff Mill was located close to the freeway and some railroad tracks, it just seemed to add to the ambience of the place. The freeway quieted down after dark and we had a restful night.
