Eaglerock Golf Course – Billings, MT
We had a brief but wonderful stay at the Eaglerock Golf Course in Billings, Montana, a Harvest Host location.
On the way, we drove through Sturgis. We are still a few weeks ahead of the annual motorcycle rally, but it was still fun to drive though. Hard to believe that 750,000 people can fit into this little town for the event.
We drove through Wyoming, most of the way to Billings. It felt pretty remote. Beautiful country, not many inhabitants.
When we arrived at the golf course, it was hot and the skies were clear blue. After our long drive, Karen and I went straight for the clubhouse, ordered a pizza and a couple of gin tonics. The parmeson chicken pizza was very good, as were the drinks.
Afterwards, I hit a bucket of balls and putted around for a while, until I couldn't take the heat any longer. It was so hot, 90+.
Back at the trailer we facetimed with Grandson Patrick. It was great to reconnect with him, knowing we would be seeing him in person soon, along with his baby sister Emma.
Karen and I played some cribbage, and I mentioned to her how clear the sky was, but that there were clouds on the horizon. I couldn't believe how quickly they moved in and soon we were in the middle of yet another thunderstorm. It was literally 30 minutes. Now our weather app had a severe thunderstorm warning. The photos below tell the story.
I stayed up and watched the storm for a while. It was a great one! Some of the clouds looked so menacing, I was watching in hopes that they wouldn't produce a funnel cloud, and they didn't.
